While not directly related to Python, it is applicable for those who write code for their roles and are in technical positions. I will share five of the most important lessons I have learned in my 8 year career as a data scientist that have helped me earn promotions and achieve success at work. It is important to know how to advocate for yourself and make sure that your contributions are noticed - this talk will discuss how to tactfully share your accomplishments. In addition the talk will go over how to collaborate with non-technical teams effectively who do not share the same coding background. I will also discuss some of the approaches I take to writing code and developing models when I start a new project.
Megan Robertson is a data scientist with over eight years experience driving business decisions through machine learning, statistical modeling and data analysis. She has partnered with stakeholders across marketing, digital design, engineering and more. She is currently working as a freelance data scientist and most recently developed data science models at Nike. She is passionate about providing mentorship to underrepresented groups in the field. Outside of work Megan enjoys photography, climbing mountains and exploring national parks.
